How to smash your 2024 fitness goals
Your 2024 Fitness Plan
It's that time of year again where we all sit down and think about what we want to achieve fitness wise for the year ahead. Now you're probably reading this thinking that you've done this last year, and the year before that and the only thing you accomplished was signing up to the gym and attending the London Marathon (although you didn’t actually take part, you cheered on the other runners with a drink in your hand but none the less, you were actually at the marathon so that is a tick….right?), but I know you can achieve so much more. 2024 is going to be the year were you go from cheering on people to the person be cheered. From the person congratulating your friend to that friend who’s receiving all the accolades, and congratulation messages. This is going to be the year where YOU take a step forward to achieve with YOUR fitness goals! But in order to take that big step to accomplishing your goals, you have to take smaller steps to get there….like 5 smaller steps to get there which I have written down below.
Plan your fitness goals for the year - Write a list of all the fitness goals you want to achieve for the year ahead. Perhaps you want to run a half/full marathon, compete in a fitness competition or just become fitter and healthier. Whatever you goal is, writing down your goals will keep you accountable.
Follow a training plan and remember its the small daily habits that will help you concur your goal - Its the daily habits that will help you achieve the bigger goals that you have set yourself. Each day should take you a step closer to your goal, and by following a training plan it will make your journey a lot smoother.
Put your physical wellbeing first - A lack of time is normally one of the biggest reasons people don’t train, therefore write out your day ahead from 06:00-22:00. Write down the hours you work e.g. 09:00-17:00 and see where the space is in your day to fit in a 30min or 45min workout.
Commit to the person you want to become and be relentless in the presuit of the goals you’re aiming to achieve - Making the changes to your daily lifestyle that will help you achieve your goal won’t be easy and will require discipline and consistency. When things get tough or you don’t feel like training, remember why you set your goal in the first place and imagine how you would feel once you’ve achieved the goal you set yourself.
Say no to the things and people that don’t serve your goal - Put you and your goal first! If people or other things distract you from what you ultimately want to achieve….then maybe you should cut those distractions out of your life.
